Go Daddy and Google offer easy access to Webmaster Tools

Monday, November 12, 2007 at 6:32 PM

Welcome Go Daddy webmasters to the Google Webmaster Tools family! Today, we're announcing that Go Daddy, the world's largest hostname provider in the web hosting space, is working with us as a pilot partner so that their customers can more easily access Google Webmaster Tools. Go Daddy is a great partner, and we hope to educate more webmasters on how to make their site more search engine-friendly.

Go Daddy users will now see our link right in their hosting control center, and can launch Google Webmaster Tools directly from their hosting account. And Go Daddy makes the Google Webmaster Tools account creation process faster by adding the site, verifying the site, and submitting Sitemaps on behalf of hosting customers. Our tools show users how Google views their site, give useful stats like queries and links, diagnose problems, and share information with us in order to improve their site's visibility in search results.

As a continuation of these efforts, we look forward to working with other web hosting companies to add Google Webmaster Tools to their products soon.

And in case you're wondering, Webmaster Tools will stay 100% the same for current users. If you have questions or suggestions about our partnership with Go Daddy, let us know in our Webmaster community discussion groups.

There is another, standard, easy way of verifying domain ownership - OpenID!
I'd be awesome if you supported it!

hmmm, it appears to open webmaster tools using a new godaddy-friendly account, can it not integrate with existing google accounts? (i.e. the same one that i have used webmaster tools with in the past) ...I may be mistaken.

Shawn, you're correct that our GoDaddy integration creates a new Google account for you, associated with your GoDaddy account. We chose not to integrate with your pre-existing Google Account because that would involve exposing your personal Google username and password to GoDaddy. If you'd like to see your site's data in your (non-GoDaddy) Google Account, you're welcome to add your site to Webmaster Tools in as many accounts as you'd like.

Thanks, Susan.

I have another question about GoDaddy's automatic Sitemap submission. Since the article says to submit questions in the community discussion groups, I posted it THERE instead.

my blog domain is bought by GoDaddy.. and I just recently got pagerank zero is it because of this migration?

Teressa, all Webmaster Tools accounts are treated the same regardless of whether they're created through GoDaddy or not. This new integration just makes it easier for GoDaddy-hosted sites to get started with a Webmaster Tools account. You can sign up for Webmaster Tools regardless of who you host with.

Alvin, PageRank is unrelated to this GoDaddy integration.

I have a lot of domain names with Godaddy because they are very chap priced. Their control panel is very powerful and I'm sure that Godaddy hosting customer will like this "Google" features. Th bad thing is that the Godaddy hosting plans are very limited and not very powerful.

An excellent Domain name provider is not automatically an excellent web hosting provider :)

I have domain name (young, from 29 may 2007) with Godaddy, but my site stopped on 50-60 position. I have great link exchange, but - ... nothing... I do not understand why... Because my domain to young? or Godaddy domain name?

It is really strange. Since I mooved my sites and blogs from Six Apart to an own webhotell and I could join Googles webmasterkit and have lost more than half of my income from Google. Since I started to do what Google recommend I have lost a lot.
Really strange.

Is there a documented integration method others can follow?

Just wondered, as my employers have a couple of online web building tools and this would make a nice addition (save the users renaming a file in the verification step). But not sure we can justify the effort of working it all out from scratch, since in the end the user can just rename a page to match the verification code (assuming they have a Google account).

I thought that it was interesting to see the godaddy addition are any other webservices deploying this type of feature?

does anyone know if/ when Go Daddy will ever come around and allow it's Quick Blogcast customers (such as myself) to verify their domains with Webmaster Tools?

I'm aware that they added meta tagging in a recent update, but you cannot paste the Google verification tag in the area below the < .head area, where Webmaster Tools dictates.

From what I've seen from the Go Daddy "support" staff for the last while, is them just kind of shrugging off the issue with quips like, "we understand your problem, we're working on it," yet nothing has been done. Their recent update including meta tagging ability is clearly just a half-assed move, in my opinion. I have contacted quite a few other Quick Blogcast users, and each one seems as frustrated as I am.

I'm paying a good amount of money for my domain, and Go Daddy was very misleading in it's language. They claimed their product would sync with all Google's amazingly useful tools, yet they certainly do not. They finally just added the option of posting ONE, very generic Adsense bar.

Has anyone else here experienced this... or am I just missing something?

thanks a lot,
John
